Man shot in 'gunfight' with police in Dhaka
The injured was sent to DMCH and later transferred to NITOR
A criminal named in multiple cases has been shot in a "gunfight" with the police in Gandaria, Dhaka.The incident occurred during the early hours of Wednesday.
Acting on a tip-off, the police raided a drug den in Gandaria. Upon seeing the police, the miscreants threw improvised explosive devices. The police fired back in retaliation.
Falan was shot in the leg at one point. His associate, Nadim Hossian Babu, 31, was arrested while Falan was sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
Falan, 35, has at least ten cases lodged against him.
Although he was initially admitted to DMCH, later Falan was transferred to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedic Rehabilitation (NITOR).
Gandaria police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) MA Jalil said: “We recovered: 1,432 small packets of heroin, seven improvised explosive devices, a dozen bottles of phensedyl, and one sharp knife from the scene.
“Babu is in police custody right now. We are conducting further investigations into the matter.”
